Technical Delivery Test in Restricted Access Environment

In some projects, the challenge isn’t the applied power, but how to deliver that power to where it needs testing. At Albert Einstein Faculty construction, the operation required a 13.8 kV test with generators installed in the seventh basement — a room completely sealed for noise and heat containment. This characteristic, essential for the project, created a problem: there was no conventional route for medium-voltage cable passage to the test location.

The client needed to validate the system before delivery, and schedule allowed no delays. The difficulty was structural: multiple basement levels, absent technical routes, and a generator enclosed in an environment designed to prevent heat, sound, or additional equipment entry or exit.

The solution required rethinking the energy path. We used an alternative route through an area connected to ventilation ducts, conducting cables to the seventh basement. Meanwhile, the load bank, a 3.3 MVA assembly coupled with a 13.8 kV to 480 V step-down transformer, was positioned at the building entrance, still under construction, at the only point allowing adequate access and dissipation.

Despite these difficulties, we managed to keep the test running stably. The entire operation was performed remotely from the plant’s monitoring room, guaranteeing safety, control, and continuity without physical presence at the main equipment.

The test was completed within required parameters, proving operational capability even in a scenario with severe access and installation limitations.
